The Place to Come for Information About Beach Maintenance.

Welcome to the Longboat Key Beaches web site. You will find the lastest information concerning the condition of Longboat Key beaches along with articles about alternative methods for maintaining the beaches, discussion groups, polls, email addresses and links to other web sites related to beach maintenance research.
Current Condition of Longboat Beaches:
Since the beach restoration project, undertaken two years ago, there has been sand loss at various locations on the island. The beaches at the north end and at the Islander Club have suffered the greatest sand loss.

Beach Maintenance - Future Challenges:

The projected costs for the next major beach restoration range from thirty to forty-five million dollars. Beach maintenance along with town government retirement obligations pose the two greatest challenges to the fiscal future of Longboat Key.
